HANGING ROCK WINERY

Hanging Rock - Five Creations Chardonnay Goulburn Valley

$30

2021 was a warm but moderate vintage, with little days over 35 degrees. This bode well for the cool climate regions. Our strategy with this premium fruit is to mature it in new French oak for 12 months. The resulting wine is packed with juicy, buttery, melon flavours and restrained oak character. The structure of the wine - acidity, flavour and oak - all in balance, indicates that this wine will cellar well.

Background

Winemaker, Rob Ellis has a long family history of making Chardonnay in Australia. Over the five generations that his family has been making wine in Australia, they've been attributed to pioneering Chardonnay across the Country, thus the inspiration for the name 'Five Generations'.

Rob's father, John Ellis was no stranger to cool climate Chardonnay making. During his time at Tisdall winery in the late 70's, early 80's he had the largest planting of cool climate Chardonnay in Australia.

Five Generations Chardonnay is made from grapes produced in the beautiful Goulburn Valley in Victoria. This wine is made to be well balanced and elegant, packed with juicy melon flavours and restrained oak character. This wine will age gracefully for 5-8 years.
